We read 587,686 opinions about seven Galaxy phones, scored 58 specific features on each, and asked which ones the next generation should fix, keep and build.

Seven Galaxy phones, 587,686 opinions, 58 features scored on each. The scores agree on six moves for the next generation.

Put a telephoto back on the Fold8’s successor
Dropping the zoom lens made the Fold8 the worst-rated camera in the line-up: 50.8% of its camera opinions are negative, against 33.9% for the Fold7 and 30.8% for the Fold8 Ultra. The two-lens spec sheet alone draws 78.3% negative opinions.

S Pen support is 62.8% to 65.0% negative on every Fold, and the pen is named in 16.5% of Fold8 Ultra walk-away statements. It is the single largest request in the wish list, with 378 statements.

Galaxy AI tools are the best-liked feature group in the study, 86.1% positive, and the least discussed at 0.4% of feature opinions. On the Fold8 they are 0.15% of opinions, a quarter of the S26 Ultra’s share.

Answer the "same phone" verdict with the three features that test best
"Same phone" opinions are 64.1% negative on the S26 Ultra and 67.7% on the S26, and almost absent on the redesigned Fold8. Privacy Display, horizon lock and low-light photography score 66.6%, 88.1% and 86.2% positive; lead the launch with them, not the spec table.

Seven phones, 58 features, and a rule for which phone an opinion is about.

Section 01 · All seven models

We scored 58 specific features on seven phones, not five categories

A category hides the decision. "Camera" on the S26 Ultra is 61.6% positive; inside it, horizon lock is 88.1% positive and zoom is 37.5%. The action for each is different.

The feature list has two sources. Samsung’s own sub-feature breakdown for the S series supplied 25 named features, from AI Eraser and Audio Eraser to Nightography, horizon lock, Vision Booster and wired and wireless charging speed. The opinions themselves supplied the rest: screen crease, product differentiation, chip architecture, speaker placement, repair cost and 40 more that people raised unprompted.

An opinion counts for a phone only when the statement, its source text or its conversation names that one phone. An S26 Ultra opinion never counts for the S26. Each text is counted once per feature. Reviewer transcripts and commenter replies are kept apart so the two groups can be compared.

On the S26 Ultra, Galaxy AI tools and camera modes lead; wireless charging and "same phone" trail

Thirty-six features on the S26 Ultra have at least 50 opinions. The top of the table is software the phone can demonstrate: AI Eraser 92.6% positive, Add object and Sketch to Image 92.1%, Text to Image 90.0%, Audio Eraser 88.5%, horizon lock 88.1%, low-light photography 86.2%.

The bottom is hardware the spec sheet exposes: wireless charging speed 20.4% positive, the "same phone" verdict 20.5%, price 29.3%, screen size 32.3%. Performance, at 80.4% positive on 1,682 opinions, is the highest-volume feature in the top ten.

Five Galaxy AI tools, 596 opinions, 86.1% positive. AI Eraser scores 92.6% on the S26 Ultra, Add object and Sketch to Image 92.1%, Text to Image 90.0%, Audio Eraser 88.5%, AI image style 78.1%. The one AI-adjacent feature that divides people is face retouching at 52.8% positive and 32.6% negative.

Almost nobody talks about them. AI tools are 0.59% of feature opinions on the S26 Ultra, 0.48% on the S25 FE and 0.15% on the Z Fold8. Even counting every opinion that mentions AI at all, the S26 Ultra reaches 2.8% and the Fold8 0.5%. The features Samsung markets hardest are the ones owners notice least, and on the Fold they are close to invisible.

On camera, the photos win and the spec sheet loses: horizon lock 88.1%, low-light 86.2%, zoom 37.5% positive

The camera modes people use score well: horizon lock 88.1% positive, low-light photography 86.2%, stabilisation 80.2%, low-light video 72.7%, colour tone presets 64.5%. Overall camera quality lands at 61.6%. Zoom is the weak point at 37.5% positive, and it is where the spec debate concentrates.

Camera criticism is a pre-launch event. Before the S26 Ultra shipped, 63.2% of its camera opinions were negative. In the launch month that fell to 32.6%, then 27.1%, 22.5% and 19.8% by months four to six. Once photos circulate, the sensor argument fades.

How to read the numbers

What an opinion is

An opinion is one statement of judgement about one of the seven phones, extracted from a post, caption, transcript, comment or reply, with off-topic and duplicated statements removed. The study holds 587,686 opinions. Questions (31,962) and statements of purchase intent (51,386) are counted separately and never mixed into sentiment rates.

Which phone an opinion is about

An opinion counts for a phone only when the statement itself, the text it came from, or the single-model conversation it sits in names that phone. A statement that names two phones is kept as comparison material and excluded from either phone’s rate. An S26 Ultra opinion never counts for the S26, and an opinion about an accessory never counts for the phone.

Feature-level opinions and rates

A feature-level opinion is one text, scored for one feature on one phone, as positive, negative, neutral or mixed. Repeated texts are counted once. The study holds 150,679 of them. Every percentage in this report is a share of these opinions for the named phone and feature, with its n printed beside it. Rates describe opinions collected from public conversations, not shares of owners.

Which features were scored

Twenty-five features come from Samsung’s own S-series sub-feature list, from AI Eraser and Audio Eraser to Nightography, horizon lock, Vision Booster and wired and wireless charging speed. The rest were raised by people unprompted and promoted to features when they recurred: screen crease, product differentiation, chip architecture, speaker placement, repair cost and others. Fifty-eight features have at least 50 opinions and appear in the league tables; smaller ones are shown with their n.

Reviewers and commenters

Reviewer opinions come from the creator of a conversation: a video transcript, a caption or a post body. Commenter opinions come from comments and replies by anyone else. "People who describe using the phone" are opinions whose text states first-hand use. The three groups are reported separately wherever they disagree.

Months since launch

Time charts use opinions whose publication date is verified, 31,894 conversations published between January 2025 and September 2026. Launch months: S26 series February 2026, Z Fold8 series July 2026, Z Fold7 July 2025, S25 FE September 2025. Buckets are before launch, launch month, month one, months two to three, months four to six, and month seven and later. A bucket is drawn only when it holds at least 30 opinions.

Wishes, questions and walk-aways

Wish statements are opinions or intentions that match a request pattern in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, German or French, such as "I wish", "should have", "bring back", "still no" or "deal breaker", counted once per phone and text; 3,674 were found and sorted into 28 categories by keyword. Shopper questions are the 16,906 questions tied to a named phone, sorted into themes by keyword; a question can belong to more than one theme. Walk-away statements are those classified as avoiding, switching, returning or selling, with the reason read from the full comment.

Cross-shopping

Cross-shopping counts comments and replies that name two or more devices: Galaxy S23 to S26 and their Plus, Ultra and FE tiers, Z Fold5 to Z Fold8, the iPhone and the Pixel. A pair is counted once per comment.

Languages

Opinions were read in the language they were written in and scored in that language; 18 languages have at least 500 feature-level opinions. Quoted opinions are shown in the original with an English translation. Language is not geography: a Korean-language opinion is an opinion written in Korean, not an opinion from Korea.

Every figure is computed by one script from a frozen copy of the data taken on 15 September 2026, and each has a registry entry with its numerator, denominator and query. The aggregate feature counts behind the charts are available on request.
